Training Requirements
The Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority (ATIL) and the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (HAVTIL) require that all employees who use fall protection equipment in their work must receive training in the use of such equipment.
This requirement follows from the Regulation on Organisation, Management and Participation, Chapter 8, § 8-1: “General requirements for training.”

It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that employees receive the necessary training.
BIKS Industrial Training in Bergen offers courses that combine theory and practice, giving participants standardized and relevant training adapted to their everyday work.

Standards and Guidelines
The courses follow NS 9610 (Standard Norway, 2020) and Offshore Norway Guideline 113.
NS 9610 specifies requirements for the use and maintenance of fall protection equipment to reduce fall accidents.
Guideline 113 covers fall protection and rope-based rescue, developed by Offshore Norway in collaboration with industry partners.

Why Fall Protection Training is Important
Working at heights involves risk. Falls are among the most common causes of serious injuries and fatalities in Norwegian workplaces.

With proper training and correct use of fall protection equipment, such incidents can be prevented.
