Independent Mentor for Offshore Crane Operations

Objective
The purpose of this training is to ensure that participants acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and guide personnel, as well as assess the competence level of individuals operating lifting appliances of type G5, G5L, and G20.

• Training format: Online instruction via Teams
• Duration: 2 days
• Course hours: 08:00–approximately 15:00 both days

Price NOK 8,900,- (Courses are exempt from VAT.)

Prerequisites

To participate, the following requirements must be met:

• Certified G5 Offshore Crane Operator
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience operating an offshore crane
  • Practical experience means regular operation of an offshore crane
• Equivalent requirements apply for mentors within G5L and G20

About the Role of an Independent Mentor

An independent mentor is a mentor who:

• has not participated in the candidate’s initial training
• assesses the candidate’s skills during the practical offshore examination

If the training provider uses an external/independent mentor, this mentor must:

• be approved by the training provider and have a valid agreement in place
• be appointed by the operational person in charge onboard
• possess competence equivalent to that of an instructor
